While it
should have come as no surprise to me that a friend of mine was
making a living online selling items as poles apart
as
childrens furniture and watertanks...it
did.
What
startled me wasn't that you could make a living online ( I had
been for 2 years ) but what was really interesting was the way
that he was achieving success in two diametrically opposed
markets - kids furniture and the selling of watertanks
online!
I didn't
even know that people purchased big ticket items like that on
the net, but they sure do.
The point
is that it's entirely possible to market just about anything on
the net that can be sold off the net in a mainstream
shop.
I sometimes
fall into the trap of thinking that I must sell info products
to do well.
Of course
that's not at all true and some really savvy people are doing
great things just by selling ordinary everyday items like a
cot
mattress
My friend
also sells other childrens furniture such as a
baby playpen and has
started to become an authority site centred around
products for babies and toddlers that are safe for the
infant and helpful for the mum.
I would
never have guessed there was a big enough market for such
things on the net but when I thought about it, it made perfect
sense. People want convenience almost as much as they
want value.
Those same
people are now time poor and they need quick solutions to their
problems.
If you are
one of the people who can solve their problem, then they will
reward you by making you rich from your
efforts.
In that
respect internet marketing is no different than any other
marketing method.
The
one thing that you must provide above all though is speed and
convenience because that's why they use the net. They aren't
necessarily wanting to be engaged or educated so much as given
a fast food style of service...quick and easy. They expect
things on your website to be easy to find ...and easy to
buy.
It doesn't
mean that you can't do a pitch to your customer or sell them
something on the backend but you just have to make sure that
first and foremost you give them what they want most of all
..and that is a CONVENIENT solution to their particular
problem.
